Midnight Sun Festival

INVITATION TO PAINT

The 2010 BP Midnight Sun Festival has discovered its artistic side.  On Sunday, June 20th from noon until midnight, downtown streets will be teeming with people eating, dancing, playing, smiling, shopping, drinking, listening, cooking….. and this year, for the first time ever, PAINTING.

All artists are welcome to register and reserve a place on the festival grounds to set up an easel and paint in the open air. Registration is free, Artists bring their own easel, canvas and supplies, the spots will be offered in two hour increments, but if you’d like more than two hours you can sign up for more.

On the following First Friday, July 2nd, show and sell your finished work at the Morris Thompson Visitor and Cultural Center.  Set up on the Golden Heart Plaza and portray the lovely Chena  River, paint a portrait of a musician or capture the simple beauty of a happy child on your canvas. Surround yourself with the sights, the sounds, the aromas, the joy that defines this great festival, let it inspire you, and be one of the first to paint in the open air at the 2010 BP Midnight Sun Festival.

To reserve a space, contact Amy Geiger at 452-8671, or at ageiger@downtownfairbanks.com.
